169,975. Festa Akt.-Ges. Oct. 7, 1920, [Convention date]. Addition to 158,842. Heating by electricity.-In flow heaters for use with a three wire system, of the kind described in the parent Specification, the number of sectorshaped electrodes surrounding the central insulating tube is made greater than the number of supply leads, one or more of the leads being subdivided and connected to the electrodes so that the load formed by the resistance of the liquid is equally distributed between the conductors. Fig 1 shows an apparatus having six electrodes, A. B, C, A<1>, B<1>, C<1>. In a modification there are four electrodes, an opposite pair of which are connected to the neutral wire, the remaining electrodes being connected to the positive and negative leads respectively. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also describes arrangements of elements comprising concentric electrodes of the type described in Specification 154,189. Fig. 1 (Cancelled) shows two such elements heated by a three-wire circuit, the current flowing from the electrodes A, B<1> to the electrodes B, A<1> respectively, and from the electrode B through the zero wire to the electrode B<1>. Fig. 2 (Cancelled) shows the arrangement for utilizing a threephase current, which passes through the electrodes A, A<1>, A<2> to the electrodes B, B<1>, B<2>, and thence to the zero point C; the electrodes A, A<1>, A<2> may be in one vessel, in which case the arrangement may be used for a three-wire supply of direct or alternating current. A modification of Fig. 1 is described wherein the electrodes are arranged in line. This subject-matter does not appear in the specification as accepted.
