Fixed-chamber apparatus; controlling passage of air and gases for; varying quantity measured in.-An apparatus for liquids consists of a closed container 1, filled and emptied through valves 5, 6 and an inverted U-tube 2. Connected to the bend of the tube is an air-pipe 7 with a radial branch 8 which can be turned'by an arm 13 carrying a pointer 15 co-operating with a scale 16, and a handle 14. At each actuation the tube 8 is turned into position and the container filled, whereon liquid is discharged until the level in the container falls to the height of the open end of the tube 8, admitting air &c., and stopping the action of the siphon. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 4217/77 and 22430/03.
