Liquid-meters. - Relates to liquid meters, of the kind comprising a measuring vessel provided with a valve controlled inlet and outlet, as described in Specifications 113,949, 114,207, 119,299 and 163,356. In order to ensure a constant change of liquid, a conduit 15, Fig. 1, leads from the lower float chamber to a point at or about the level of the outlet valve 7. A cock 16 allows the meter to be emptied when required, and a cover 17 provides for access to the float chamber. In order to prevent premature operation of the upper float 13 by a quick inrush of liquid during filling, a light disc 21 is provided to close apertures 22. Further, to prevent opening of the inlet valve 6 by the liquid supply, the supply pipe 23, Fig. 2, is provided with an extension 23<a> connected to a return pipe 24 through a valve 25 adapted to open under less pressure than the inlet valve. The valve 25 may be dispensed with if the connection between the pipes 23a, 24 is above the liquid level in the meters. A connection 26 serves to empty the meter in the event of the supply being cut off during filling. The float chambers and the measuring vessel may be made of glass or porcelain.
