Abstract
701,768. Delivering measured Quantities of liquid. CLEMENTSON, L. May 12, 1952 [Feb. 29, 1952], No. 11910/52. Class 106(5) A liquid-measuring spout comprises a connection 14 having a flange, screw-thread or other means for attaching it to a container, a tubular measuring chamber 10 closed'at one end 11 and disposed at an angle to the container axis and a liquid inlet 15 and air pipe 16 disposed about halfwav along the chamber. By tilting the container in the direction of the arrow F, the chamber fills until the inlet and air pipe are covered and, when the container is restored to the upright position, excess liquid returns to the container down to the level of the chain-dotted line, thus leaving a measured quantity to be discharged through the end 12 by tilting in the direction of the arrow L. As shown, a cylindrical shroud 17 closed at one end 18 surrounds the inlet and the air pipe is.connected with a hole 19 in the lower side of the inlet, but the shroud may be dispensed with and the air pipe carried up to the top of the higher side of the inlet. The measuring chamber 10 and the connection 14 may be formed as one member and the device may be made partly or wholly of transparent material, in which case graduations may be provided on the measuring chamber. A closure 13 is provided for the discharge end 12 of the chamber.
