Bottles, drinking-vessels, jars, and vessels, washing.-In a device for washing tumblers, jam jars, bottles, and other vessels, the vessel is placed over a hollow rotatable brush spindle d so as to open a valve c<2> against the action of a spring c<3> and supply water through openings in the top as well as through the sides of the brush spindle. The frame d carries brushes h for the outside of the vessel and the hollow walls are in communication with the brush spindle, on which it is mounted. The brush-carrying members are rotated by a Pelton wheel when the watersupply valve k<2> is opened, a valve k<1> being provided for adjusting the water pressure. In modifications, the valve c<2> is seated under the lower end of the brush spindle and is operated through a rod extended to engage the bottom of the vessel to be cleaned; or the brush spindle may be mounted on the spring-pressed valve, which is opened when the spindle is depressed. The valve c<2> may also be arranged to control the water supply to the motor wheel.
