Abstract

197,925. General Railway Signal Co., (Assignees of Cave, H.). May 17, 1922, [Convention date]. Plates, dishes, and the like, washing.-In a machine of the type in which the dishes supported on a tray in a casing are sprayed by rotary spraying devices located above and below the tray, a pump 91 driven by a motor 75 is arranged adjacent to the casing 10 to force liquid from a reservoir 45 to the spraying devices 50, 51 and valve means are provided whereby the pump may be used to drain the machine. A removable cover for the casing comprises two unequal parts 29, 30 hinged in a water-tight manner by interengaging flanges 31, 32, the part 30 being lifted to introduce the articles. Holes 29 are provided in the cover to allow air to escape without lifting it, a guard 39 preventing leakage of liquid. The tray B comprises two wire rings 13, 14 supported on legs 16 and carrying a number of wire holders 28 for plates and a flat grid G for glasses &c., the inner part of the grid being bent upwardly at 20 to take a conical holder S for knives &c. A clip H attached to the holder is adapted to support bottles &c. in an inverted position. The spray members are rotatably mounted on a bearing 55 so that when supplied with fluid from the pump through a connection 84 they are rotated by the reaction of jets from nozzles 64, other nozzles 60 giving upwardly-directed sprays while a spray-ball 65 gives horizontal and downwardly-directed sprays. For vertical sprays some of the nozzles 60 are directed inwardly and for facilitating cleaning the tubes 50 are closed by removable plugs 61 and the spray-ball is divided along the helical line of holes 70, the top portion being kept in place by a screw 69, Fig. 19. The used liquid drains back to the sump through an opening 41 covered 'by a removable screen 42 accessible by removing the tray G, and the liquid may be drained therefrom by turning a valve 87, Fig. 7, by a handle 104 so as to put the pump into connection with a drain pipe 86 having a pivoted extension 120 which may be turned so as to drain into a sink. A casing 17 surrounds the motor which is resiliently mounted so as to reduce noise, and a spring clip 106 coacts with a yolk 105 to hold the valve 87 in either of its two positions. Water is supplied to the tank through an opening 115 by a flexible pipe, and the level of water in the sump is indicated by the graduated rod 114 of a float 113. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes, also a readily removable tap connection comprising a clamp 128, Fig 22 (Cancelled), fixed to the tap f and carrying pivotally a wire member 132 gripping the flexible pipe 136 and acted upon by a spring 135 which retains a cup 137 either under the tap or in the position shown dotted. A device which enables separate screens to be used for the washing and rinsing fluids is also described, a ring 140, Fig. 23 (Cancelled), being fitted in the opening 41 having holes 141 and two screens 142, 143, the. top screen 142 being guarded by a shield 144; as shown the screen 142 is used, for washing, and for rinsing the ring is raised by rod 148 so that the screen 142 is above the water level, the holes 141 are disclosed and the screen 143 only is used. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
