Abstract
167,546. Meldal, E. May 5, 1920. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Shades; shade-holders.-A lamp shade comprises a conical metal frame, having a series of rods pivoted about their centres on its lower ring and covered with textile material, these Tods being adapted to be moved about their pivots by cords or equivalents to obscure the light or to direct the light upwardly or downwardly or partly upwardly and downwardly. In one form, a conical frame a, having connecting rings c, c<1> for mounting over a lamp, is provided with rods e pivoted at d. Cords f are attached to the rods on one side of the pivots, led through a ring g formed in a lower conical frame hand combined to form a single pulling-member f<1>, and cords i are attached to the rods on the other sides of the pivots and combined to form a pulling-member i<1>, so that by manipulating the members f<1>, i<1> the whole shade can be swung about the pivots to any desired position. In another form, the cords i are. replaced by counterweights extending inwards from the pivotal points. Catches may be provided on the member f<1> to engage the ring g to hold the shade in any position. The frame and rods may be made of similar material to umbrella framework.
