Abstract

166,809. Massy, W. H. July 5, 1920. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Spring wheels with continuous flexible tread and hollow wheel body forming fluid chamber.-The tubeless pneumatic tyre 3 is in open communication with a pneumatic reservoir 2 formed by side discs 4, 5 of the wheel. The tyre is held between shaped rings 8, 9 and detachable rings 9, which are secured to the rim by spaced bolts 12 passing through hollow or tubular bridge-piecee 14. The discs 4, 5 are connected by reinforcing-stays 16. Any non-return air valve is fitted into the disc 4 to enable air to be pumped into the reservoir and tyre. The tyre is provided with an adhesive rubber lining which is extended to cover the beads to form a good packing and insure an air-tight joint between the beads and the rings 8, 9. The hub 6 is provided with the usual bolts 20 for securing it to a flange 21 connected to the bearing-hub so that the wheel may be readily detached. Specification 3940/12 is referred to.
