Abstract

166,784. Turner, P. May 25, 1920. Pneumatic separating.-The air supply to a machine for cleaning grain is controlled by a plate k slidably mounted in pivoted guides l. The grain falls down a spout a on to a pivoted plate b, beneath which is a ledge c which distributes the grain to a pivoted dished plate e. The plates b, e are preferably controlled by levers connected to adjustable springs. From the plate e the grain passes to an air space h, where it meets a current of air which carries the chaff, seeds, &c. into a chamber j. The sound grain passes out of an outlet v at the bottom of the air space h. The chamber j is provided with an outlet r with weighted doors s, t to prevent ingress of air. The outlet p to the exhaust fan is regulated by a valve q.
