Abstract

Cup-leather joints; spigot joints with divided sleeve.-In joints of the kind described in Specification 149,381 in which an annular leak-preventing flexible ring bridges the ends of the two pipes to be joined and is enclosed in a housing provided with means for preventing longitudinal separation of the pipes, the housing is made in two parts a, b which are secured together by the action of clamps c forced on to wedge-shaped coacting projections 1, 2 on the housing. The projections may be as shown, in which case shims may be used between the clamps and the projections, or they may be of square or circular crosssection. In these last modifications the clamping-means c, as indicated in Fig. 10, are adapted to move radially of the pipes in the joint. The clamp c, in the form shown in Fig. 10, is held down by means of a nut on the screw-threaded ends of the projections 1, 2.
