Abstract

164,951. Fleming, J. A. May 17, 1920. Aeroplanes; planes, arrangement and construction of; framework.-The machine has a front set of planes 12, 14, 13 and a rear set of planes 15, 17, 16, with central longitudinal planes 21, 23 having depending side surfaces 20 and upstanding side surfaces 22 respectively. The pests 25, 26 are of angle iron with a facing 27, Fig. 5, of wood. The motor 31 is so arranged in the car 30 as to give the machine a low forward centre ot gravity. An aerial 90 for wireless telegraphy is fitted. Propelling.-The motor 31 in the car 30 drives side propellers 40, 41 at the rear of the plane 14 through chain and sprocket gearing. Steering.-Ailerons 60, 61 are formed on the plane 14. An elevator 70 is mounted on the plane 17. Pairs of rudders 80 are pivoted behind' the rear set of planes.
