Abstract

164,083. Marley, E. L. Feb. 19, 1920. Road-traffic signals on vehicles; semaphore signals; bell signals.-Signals are given by the rotation through predetermined angles of a semaphore 12 controlled by a spring 22 and operated from any convenient point by Bowden mechanism 15 provided with a control lever 14. Mounted on the semaphore spindle 10, is a contact drum 13 provided at spaced intervals round its periphery with contacts 17 and at its end with other contacts with which co-operate wipers 19, 27 in the circuits of a lamp 28 and bell 24 respectively. Movement of the arm to any signalling position causes the bell to sound and the light from the lamp to be projected through the glazed aperture 20 at the side of the semaphore and also, if required, through a lens 21 at its end. A switch is @r@@d d @o cut the lamp out of circuit during the day-time.
