Abstract

Vibrations, indicating, recording, and registering. - Apparatus to be actuated by explosions or shocks comprises a microphone A in circuit with the primary C of a transformer, of which the secondary C' is connected with a sensitive relay D of Weston or other type which is so adjusted by means of a potentiometer E that the contacts F are normally closed. The contacts F are in circuit with a relay H which may be of the Post Office " Pattern B." When the resistance of the microphone A is reduced, such as by the shock of an explosion, the contacts F are opened and the armature J of the relay H is released to close a circuit to start recording or other mechanism. The relay H is adjusted so that the current normally passing through it is sufficient to keep its armature attracted but not to attract it when once it is released. The recording circuit thus remains closed until the relay H is re-set by the switch L.
