Abstract

235,187. Gould, R. H. June 7, 1924, [Convention date]. Bell-operating mechanism, electric.-Relates to burglar and like alarms for indicating at a distance an occurence such as the opening of a safe-door. The switch 6 having been closed, the bell armature 4 is adjusted into a position of unstable equilibrium, with the contacts 14, 20 closed and the contacts 13, 19 open. Current flows continuously through the electromagnet 3, and the armature remains at rest so long as no interference with the circuit takes place. If, however, the current is either diminished or increased, the armature 4 is set in vibration and the bell rings. The adjustment of the armature is effected by means of an eccentric 21, normally held away from the hammer 23 by a spring.
