Abstract

163,408. Fox, G. Jan. 27, 1920. Luggage holders.-Side members b secured to the back part of a motor car, &c. support an arched bridge-piece d, which carries a stub-axle e and retaining-plate e<1> for carrying a spare wheel. The members b also carry a luggagecarrier, the side members f, f<3> of which are pivoted on a rod i attached to the members b. The luggage-carrier is maintained in its horizontal position by extensions f<1>, f<4> of the side members f, f<3> engaging fixed stops on the members b; these stops may be flanges b<1> of the members b. In the raised position, the luggagecarrier is pressed sideways on the rod i by a spring g till its sides and extensions thereof engage stops o, p and retain the luggage-carrierin the raised position. A lamp and number-plate bracket k may be pivotally mounted on the outermost rail j of the luggage carrier, as described in Specification 163,996, [Class 75 (iii), Lamps &c., Details of], so as always to occupy a vertical position. An enlarged part k<3> of the bracket k is normally kept in engagement with either a slotted opening m in the side member f, or with a slotted opening n in an extension f<2> by means of a spring l.
