Abstract
In the production of ethers of cellulose, starch, dexterin, &c., and their conversion products, the cellulose &c. is treated in the presence of at least 15 parts of a 30-50 per cent caustic alkali solution with alkylating-, aralkylating-, or arylating-agents. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also the production of ethers from the derivatives of cellulose &c. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.ALSO:In the production of ethers of starch, dextrin, &c., and their conversion products, the carbohydrate is treated in the presence of at least 15 parts of a 30-50 per cent caustic alkali solution with alkylating-, aralkylating- or arylating-agents. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) includes also the production of ethers from the derivatives of starch, dextrin, &c. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
