Abstract

In the production of ethers of cellulose, its conversions and derivatives, the cellulose &c. is simply impregnated with caustic alkali solution and, without removing the excess of caustic alkali solution and without being subjected to a ripening process, is then treated with the alkylating-, aralkylating-, or arylating-agents.
