Abstract

162,957. Gaclaemaille, A. S., (Etablissements Arbel, Forges de Douai, Forges de Couzon, Soc. Anon.). June 17, 1920. Hand actuation; locking by frictional detents; indicators, applications of.-A lever 5 is locked by an auxiliary lever 9 pivoted at its outer end and bearing against a concave fixed quadrant 11 of radius greater than the length of the lever 5. The lever 5 is pulled by hand to actuate, say, a rod 1 operating a wagon brake. A shoe 9<1> on the end of the lever 9 slides over the quadrant 11 until the motion stops, when the shoe is pressed firmly into locking engagement with the quadrant by toggle action and by a spring 10. Unlocking is effected by hand pressure upon the lower end of the lever 9. A light coloured disc may be attached to the lever 5 to indicate that the wagon is provided with a brake.
