Abstract

162,838. Huss, O. Feb. 18, 1920. Chain, axle, and like distance members or adjusters. - The road wheels 1 of vehicles have a large central opening 2 and run on a bearing member comprising two concentric side plates 3 overlapping the edges of the opening 2 and carrying distance-pieces 4 and rollers 6, 7. The weight of the vehicle is carried on pins 10 provided eccentrically on the side plates and arranged in the radial line passing through axis 11 of the road wheel and the axle 8 of the roller 6, and means are provided for adjusting and holding the pins 10 on one side of the vertical line passing through the axis of the wheel. In the embodiment of the invention described, the pins 10 are journalled eccentrically in a bush 21, which is mounted in a bearing 22 so that its axis coincides with the axis 11 of the wheel. The bush is turned by a handle 20 so as to adjust the position of the pins 10. The rollers on the plates 3 are provided with peripheral grooves to accommodate a central rib on the inner surface of the opening 2.
