162,466. Scammell, W. G., Norton. W. J., and Farmer & Sons, Ltd., Sir J. Feb. 25, 1920. Roller bearings.-Each roller bears on a number of flexible elements interlocking with one of the race rings. In the form shown, the flexible elements have the form of a helical spring d of T-shaped, dovetailed, round, or other section, interlocking with similarly-shaped helical grooves c in a sleeve b or in the shaft &c. A clearance e affords radial resilience, and the convolutions of the helix project sufficiently to form a number of contacts with the rollers. Stops may be provided to prevent creeping. More than one helix may be used, or the flexible elements may be in the form of separate rings, split or otherwise. In a modification, the helix and groove are in the outer element a<1>.
