Rotary converters; coils and conductors; windings.-In a rotary converter, the alternating-current winding is arranged at the bottom and the continuous-current winding at the top of each armature slot, and the magnetic circuit for the flux is arranged so that a substantial part of the flux cut by one winding may not be cut by the other. Fig. 3 shows an armature having an alternating - current winding C producing a resultant magneto-motive force of a number of phases greater than the number of slip-rings E, and a continuous-current winding D revolving between poles G energized by the winding H having a variable resistance K in series and connected to the brushes I. The windings are carried in deep narrow slots as shown in Fig. 2, and preferably have magnetic spacers R between them. Fig. 6 shows a suitable form of winding.
