Abstract
162,228. Farmer, C. C. May 12, 1920, [Convention date]. Lubricant conveyed by fluid.-A lubricator for air compressors, of the kind in which air is forced into a chamber 3 and through a valve 6 into an inner chamber 4, passing on the suction stroke through an opening 11 and through the body of lubricant 2 back to the compressor, is so constructed that the chamber 3 is of large capacity and area relatively to the chamber 4, so that in operation the oil level in the chamber 3 does not appreciablv fluctuate. The air enters and leaves the lubricator through a pipe 7 and a port 8 in a valve 9, Fig. 1, a second port 12 allowing oil to be delivered directly of necessary. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which the valve 9 is replaced by a valve 15 which is held off its seat by a filling-plug 14<1> and closes automatically when the plug is removed. A slot 17 in the plug releases the compression in the lubricator before the plug is entirely unscrewed.
