Abstract

162,224. Howe, R. S., and Ellis, G. W. July 30, 1920. Pistons.-An appliance for entering a piston in the cylinder of a gas or oil engine, consists of two V-bars A of square section, on which slide split tubes B, C drawn together by bolts D and nuts E. The piston rings are compressed by knife-edges G, carried by tubes F which are adjustable on the tubes B, C. Screws H serve to clamp the tubes F, B, C on to the bars A. The leading ends of the knife-edges G are bevelled, to enable them to enter the bevelled mouth of a cylinder.
