Abstract

161,743. Wakefield, J. Jan. 31, 1920. Stropping - apparatus. - A holder for razor blades &c., adapted for use in the honing-device described in Specification 133,881, comprises a pair of plates a, b hinged together at m and bent or curved outwardly between the hinge and the longitudinal edge, the plates being held together with a blade between them by a clamping-member h, in the form of a channelled bar secured to, or formed on one end of, a handle k. The bottom of the bar is substantially cylindrical to receive the edge m, and the sides h are curved or bent outwardly so as tightly to embrace the curved surfaces of the plates a, b. The end of the holder remote from the handle k is provided with a cylindrical socket n to engage the supporting-rod of the honing-devide and the handle, with a grooved collar o, to engage the arch-shaped guide of the device. The hinge-pin m of the plate may be shortened to provide the socket n. The end of the hinged bladeholder may be provided with a knob, button, &c. to facilitate the withdrawal from the clamping- member. The outer edge of the plates a, b may be flat, curved, or inclined, and the inner faces may be roughened at a, b to grip the blade. When a knob &c. is provided on the holder, it is provided with a cylindrical recess to engage the supporting-rod of the honing-device.
