In the construction shown, the cover 1, Fig. 3, slides in dovetail grooves 2 in the breech-frame and is secured by the pivoted barrel 3. The parts of the lock mechanism are loosely mounted on their pivots and are of the same thickness as the cavity, so that they are held in place by the cover.
