Abstract
Titanium nitrogen compounds such as the nitride or titanium cyanogen compounds are treated with water vapour with or without oxygen under reduced pressure and at a temperature below 500 DEG C., the ammonia &c. produced being withdrawn as soon as possible. The gases withdrawn are passed through milk of lime or an alkali solution in the cold to obtain ammonia and a cyanide, or hot to obtain ammonia and a formate which may be heated to obtain formaldehyde.ALSO:Titanium nitrogen compounds such as the nitride or titanium cyanogen compounds are treated with water vapour with or without oxygen under reduced pressure and at a temperature below 500 DEG C., the ammonia &c. produced being withdrawn as soon as possible.
