Abstract

Ammonium thiocyanate is formed in solution during the removal of cyanogen compounds from fuel gases by scrubbing them with an ammoniacal liquor containing sulphur. The liquor may be concentrated, prior to crystallization, by passing the hot purified gas through the thiocyanate solution and by evaporating the solution in a steam-heated sump.
