Abstract

160,273. Gorman, F. G., and Smiles, J. E. Dec. 17, 1919. Incandescent gas burners; mantle supports.-The lower end of an upright mantle 6 is tied to a steatite or other ring 1 having a flared opening 2 and supported on a burner tube 5 by an internal shoulder 4, or by inwardly projecting lugs engaging in corresponding slots in the burner tube. In modifications, the ring rests on a flanged collar on the burner tube, or the inner surface of the ring is conical and engages frictionally the burner tube. The top of the ring may be provided with a perforated disc or cover 12 or a disc of wire gauze may be fitted at the top of the burner tube.
