160,144. Hayn, F., and Treytag, E. E. March 6, 1920, [Convention date]. Spring wheels with wheel body formed of elastic material or springs without separate continuous rim.-Relates to wheels of the kind comprising spokes which consist of several layers of leaf springs and terminate in shoes, grippers or the like. The invention consists in pivoting the shoes to the spokes and in utilizing the leaf springs of which the spokes are formed to control the rocking movements of the shoes. The sets of leaf springs forming the spokes are secured in recesses in the hub 1, by plates 11 having projections 12 engaging notches 13 in the spoke springs. The main spring 8 is reinforced by springs 9, 10, and is pivoted to a pin 14 extending between the sides of the shoes 16. The spring 5, which is supported by springs 6, 7, bears on a roller 18 carried by the shoe and tends to oscillate the shoe until the movement 13 stopped by an adjustable set-screw 20.
