Abstract
190,572. Roberts, H. W. B., and Sweetnam, G. Oct. 11, 1921. Non-circular substitutes for wheels.-A wheel for tractors and the like is formed of a number of bars 43, Fig. 3, pivoted together and to feet 20, the centres of alternate bars being pivoted to the ends of the spokes 88 of two sets. Each set of spokes 38 is fixed to a boss which is loosely mounted on an axle and a driving member having dogs 40 engaging the spokes is keyed to the asla between the bosses of the two sets of spokes. A roller 13 may press against a flat surface on the bars 43 and be urged outwardly by a laminated spring 18. The feet 20 may be pivoted about a pin 26, their movement being limited by an arm 30 on a square shank of the pin 26 engaging springs 31, Fig. 5, in the feet. The feet 20 may be tilted by a spring-pressed arm 24, Fig. 4, on the vehicle engaging an extension 25 of the feet. The treads 34 may be detachable as shown in Fig. 4.
