The bolt moves in a sleeve a screwed into the steering-head A and carries pins e<1>, which, when the code rings d are in the correct position, can pass through slots in the internal flanges on these rings. The innermost ring bears upon a washer c in contact with the head. The cap engages with the outer screwed end of the bolt.
