Abstract

Handlebar locking device for a two-wheeled motor vehicle. The clearance between a cylinder lock locking bar and a locking hole formed in a steer axle should be minimized to improve the durability of the cylinder lock. A mounting bracket (51) is welded at (W {sub, 1) to a front tube (1). The base end of a cylindrical guide element (53) is integrally welded at (W {sub, 4) to the mounting bracket (51), while the front end of the guide element (53) is embedded in the periphery internal of a support hole (1 {sub, 1) formed in the front tube (1) and welded in (W {sub, 3). A cylinder lock (54) is attached to the mounting bracket (51) via a mounting plate (58). A locking bar (57) protrudes from the cylinder lock (54) and slides into the guide hole (53 {sub, 1) of the guide element (53). The front end of the locking bar (57) is positioned opposite a locking hole (31 {sub, 1), formed on a steering shaft (31) so that it can engage with the locking hole. Since the guide element (53) is integrally mounted with the mounting bracket (51), the positional accuracy between the guide hole (53 {sub, 1) of the guide element (53) and the hole of the lock (31 { sub, 1) formed in the steering axis (31) is improved and, therefore, the oscillation of the lock bar (57) is decreased.
