Abstract

180,510. Lee, H. J. April 13, 1921. Addition to 152,064. Locks, revolving-barrel; bolt operated indirectly from key element.-In a lock of the kind described in the parent Specification, the screwthreaded member 11, rotated by the shaft 7<b> of the barrel 7, engages a corresponding screwthread in or on the bolt 12. On turning the barrel 7 after insertion of the key, the member 11, Fig. 1, rotates with it, but has no motion relative to it, the result of the turning being to cause the bolt to move longitudinally. The fixed member 8 is held against longitudinal movement by a collar 10 fitting in an annular recess in its end and in an annular groove in the inside of the casing 6. The member is held against rotation by a feather 8<a> engaging in the featherway 6<a> in the casing. In a modification, the member 11, Fig. 3. may be hollow for part of its length and internally screw-threaded to receive the externally screw-threaded bolt. The bolt has a rectangular head 12 and is prevented from rotation by its engagement in the socket on the member to be locked.
