159,204. AktieboIaget Karlstads Mekaniska Verkstad. Feb. 25, 1920, [Convention date]. IVet presses.-In pressing-apparatus for removing liquid from between the pairs of rolls used in pressing out fibrous substances such as cellulose and wood pulp, one or both of each pair of cylinders, as in the couch press 4, the first press 7 and the second press 14, are provided with circumferential grooves in which the water collects, and with suction means 5, 9, 17 to remove the water so collected. Felts 6, 10 may be used to protect the material in the couch press and first press. Scrapers or stops may be used in the grooves to improve the suction. Fig. 4 shows the arrangement applied to the upper roll 27 of a pulp vat. An arrangement wherein the material passes upwards between the pressing-rolls is also described.
