Cylinder paper machines; pulp, catching and recovering; wet presses.-In pulp vats wherein cellulose, wood pulp, &c. from a container 4 are gathered on a perforated cylinder 1, one or more press rolls 8, 12, used to consolidate the pulp, are provided with peripheral grooves, notches, deep slots or the like, to facilitate the extraction of the water. The water and any particles of pulp are removed from the slots by scrapers 11 and collected in drain troughs 10.
