159,142. Trent Process Corporation, (Assignees of Trent, W. E.). Feb. 21, 1920, [Convention date]. Charging and discharging.-Comminuted coal, crude oils or a mixture of oil and coal are fed from a hopper 13<1> to a venturi tube 17<a> and blown by air from a fan 17 through a conduit 16 and tubular feeding member 5<1> to a head 6 having peripheral openings 7 discharging into a chamber 1 preliminarily heated by burning gasoline ignited by a sparking-plug 13. The member 5<1> is given a rotary movement by a pulley-wheel 22 connected to the tubular stem by a key 23 sliding in a keyway 24, and due to a threaded rod 19 attached to one end of the tube 5<1> working through a nut 20, rotation of the tube causes the latter to travel the length of the chamber 1 when the nut 20 is secured by a keeper 21, Fig. 3. When sufficient coke has been deposited in the chamber 1 a portion 2 of the chamber is swung down into a vertical position and the coke is forced out by a ram 26.
