Abstract

Gauge glasses and the like. -A filler cap on a gravitysupply fuel-tank of motorvehicles is provided with an external tube extension for the purpose of providing means for accurate measurement of the fuel consumption. The cap A has a tube C thereon of metal, vulcanite. or glass, and in the latter case there is a protecting outer wall c, indicating marks being provided. The tube has a cap c<1> with a vent-hole therein. When fuel is used, the volume required to fall to the top or a specific mark is measured and the distance travelled by the car is noted, for obtaining a value for fuel consumption in miles per gallon.
