Abstract

157,640. Browne, G. W. Dec. 22, 1919. Hoods.-A framework for the hoods of motorcars, chars-a-bancs &c. comprises one or more pairs of telescopic tubular members a, b, the member b telescoping within the member a in which is a spring c tending to force out the member b, so that the hood d is kept taut when opened. The members b may be connected to a cross-member of the hood or be integral extensions of its extremities. A separate hood is provided for each seat, each hood being kept open by the usual strap g, or a ratchet and pawl on the pivot i. When the hood is folded, suitable catches h keep the springs c compressed and hold down the hood.
