Abstract

156,744. Wirebounds Patents Co., (Assignees of Babcock, G. C.). Sept. 18, 1914, [Convention date]. Boxes made from special blanks; bands and battens, strengthening; lids.-A blank for use in making a wire-bound box or like receptacle is formed by fastening sheets 9, 10, 11, Fig. 2, together by means of wires &c. 12, 20, the staples which engage the outside wires 12 being driven into cleats 5, 6, 7. The wires 12 are also secured to cleats 8, and the wires 20 are secured to an additional member 18 adapted to form a separate removable lid for the box, the wires 20 being severed at 21 after the blank has been formed. To form the box, the blank is set up as shown in Fig. 4, the ends 23, 25 of the wires 12 being twisted together, and end members 30 are then stapled to the cleats. The lid 18 is arranged to lie between the cleats 8 and to rest on the upper edges of the members 30 ; it is secured in place by twisting together the parts 27, 28 and 24, 26 of the wires 20.
