Lined boxes made from special blanks; lids and covers. - Boxes with removable lids and necks on which the lids are seated are made by folding, fastening, and severing blanks. Two open-ended boxes are made from blanks cut and scored as shown in Fig. 1, and one is fitted into the other. The flaps c at the ends of the inner part are folded inwards, the flaps at the ends of the outer part being then similarly folded and secured by adhesive. In order to open the box and form a replaceable lid, the outer wall is cut along the lines 6, 7, 8, 9, Fig. 6. If desired, the inner part may have no flaps or flaps at one end only. To. facilitate the cutting, the outer layer may be perforated or weakened along the lines of section, and in addition a wire, string, or other filament may be placed in the wall along these lines. Or the outer layer may be so far severed that mere pressure suffices to complete it. The box may be marked to indicate the cutting lines.
