Hammers; picks. - Interchangeable toothed faces are fitted to dressing-hammers 'by means of a tenon which forms part of the hammer head and engages a groove, which may be undercut, formed in the toothed face. As shown in Fig. 2, the tenon 3 on a hammer head 1 is fitted in a recess 8 in a toothed face 6, and is secured therein by a taper pin 9 which engages recesses 5 in a slot 4 in the head. The two parts of the head 1 may be forced apart by a screw instead of by the taper pin 9. In the modification, Fig. 6, two toothed faces 6 are secured to one head, and the taper pin 9 is arranged to pass through the face 6. The second face 6 is secured by means of a pin 9<1> engaging a groove 11 in it, and also an annular groove 10<1> formed in the tenon 3<1>. In all cases, the tenon 3 can be machined so as to ensure a good fit with the groove 8 in the face 6.
