Wood - screws, - The head of a wood - screw or the like is made conical and of ratchetwheel shape in crosssection, as shown in Fig. 2. A special tool for driving such a screw is shown in Fig. 5, and has a cavity fitting the head. With this tool, the screw can be driven forward but cannot be unscrewed, as the tool slips over the head on backward rotation.
