Metering.-In order to record the number of times a group of trunk lines become busy, a master switch of the kind described in Specification 15072/12, which is only in continuous motion when all the lines are engaged, is caused to operate a switch which controls a relay 2. One of the contact arms 4, 5 carries an adjustable weight 7, which is set into vibration when the relay is operated. So long as the contact vibrates, the current passed is insufficient to actuate the armature n of the magnet m of the meter M, which therefore does not record until the contacts 4, 5 become steady. This ensures that any momentary movement of the master switch, i.e. when preselecting idle lines &c., will not affect the meter.
