V-slot and like blade sharpeners; roller apparatus; cutting-edges, shaping and treating. - A sharpener for cutlery comprises two rows of conical rollers R<1>, R<2>, Fig. 1, loosely carried on parallel spindles S', S<2> arranged in staggered fashion as shown in Fig. 2. The upper ends of the spindles may be shaped as at S<3>, S<4> to act as guides for the blade, and the rollers may be fluted. Where fluted rollers are required, however, the sharpener preferably comprises cylindrical rollers loosely mounted on inclined spindles. The spindles are mounted on a base-plate E adapted to be screwed to a bench, or formed so that it can be inserted in a wooden handle. The rollers may be mounted for relative adjustment either horizontally or vertically, and means may also be provided for adjusting the inclination of the spindles.
