Abstract

In a loom with air-jet insertion, a weft-yarn holding device (12) possesses a fixed and movable holding part (34) which can be brought together in order to grasp the weft yarn (38). Guided slideably in a bore (30) of the fixed holding part is a tappet (32) which, at one end projecting beyond the fixed holding part, carries the movable holding part. An actuating device (14) serves for the axial displacement of the tappet and for the alternate grasping and release of the weft yarn. A yarn-flock removal device (16) with an air passage (64, 66, 68) on the weft-yarn holding device opens out at one end into the interspace between the movable and the fixed holding part and at the other end is connected to an air pump. When the holding parts are separated from one another by the control of the actuating device, an air stream flows through this interspace and removes yarn flocks and other impurities from this interspace between the holding parts. <IMAGE>
