Abstract

Bollards, riding-bitts, and the like; cable guides; rollers, fairlead, arrangement and disposition of.- Trawlers and like fishing vessels are provided with means whereby the cables of the trawl nets leave the ships on the centre line at the stern, and the direction of the pull between the cable and the vessel is caused to be in the said centre line. The trawl cables a, a<1> are led aft from the forward winches in the usual manner and launched overboard aft of the gallows b<2>. A secondary cable is passed around a supplementary pulley f pivoted in a gallows, and fixed to the end of the trawl cable. The secondary cable is then hauled from the opposite side of the deck, so that the trawl cable is brought inboard so as to pass around the roller c and engage the fitting d on the centre line at the stern. The fitting d is preferably a double eye or fairlead as shown in Fig. 6, being provided with a double disengaging gear consisting of latches a'.
