Abstract

154,865. Nell, W. A. Aug. 14, 1920. Capsule closures; stoppers, sealing-wires for.- A closure device for bottles, jars, &c. comprises a cap 5, Fig. 1, of cylindrical form having a closed end and sufficient diameter and depth to fit over and extend below the rim of the bottle neck, and a wire ring 1 having one or more eyes or loops 2 formed therefrom, the ring being adapted to pass over the cap to below the rim and to be contracted by twisting the loop or loops to make an airtight closure. A length of wire is bent over upon itself to form the loop 2, Fig. 3, its two ends being bent round to form the ring 1 and connected by forming interengaging hooks 3, 4 thereon. Twisting the loops 2 in the reverse direction unfastens the closure and usually breaks the wire so that illicit opening is indicated.
