Abstract

154,615. Dabonville, H. J. Sept. 24, 1915, [Convention date]. Fixed-abutment type; packing drums and abutments; adjusting parts for wear; balancing moving parts; discharge and suction passages.-A rotary pump of the hinged vane type has the vanes e shaped as arcs concentric with the axis of the hinge and mounted in recesses in an inner drum, the outward movement of the vanes being limited by a heel piece e<1> on the vane and an abutment d<2> on the recess. The inlet and outlet conduits enter the chamber obliquely as shown m dotted lines in Fig. 1. The drum d is closed by side plates d<1> provided with a circular packing ring q held by springs r. The hinge pivots e<2> pass through one side plate and carry a lever m and roller n co-operating with a race o to operate the vanes, springs p forcing the vanes outwards. The abutment f is provided with transverse spring-pressed packing blades h which communicate with a hydro-pneumatic device k to prevent water hammer. Recesses f<1> in the sides of the abutment are connected by a conduit f<2> to balanoe the pressures. Packings g ensure fluid tightness between the side plates d<1> and the abutment. The drum can be adjusted by means of rings 1 on the shaft, which also is provided with packing means s. A revolution counter may be fitted to the pump.
