Abstract
A sectional metal bar with a surface of stepped cross-section is produced from an essentially rectangular metal bar by preliminary forming. This preformed sectional bar is drawn through a drawing die with the use of hydrodynamic lubrication, the cross-sectional width of the bar being retained and its thickness undergoing a drawing reduction of at least 30% uniformly distributed over the cross-section. The drawing apparatus comprises a lubricant tank (12), through which the bar (10) runs, a hydrodynamic region (17) adjoining the latter in the drawing direction, and a reduction section (18) following the said region and containing the drawing die. It is thereby possible to produce a sectional bar with a high accuracy in a shorter production time. <IMAGE>
