Abstract

1537242 Sewage settlement tank; manhole access SHREWSBURY PLASTICS & ENG 24 May 1976 28241/78 Divided out of 1537241 Heading E1C The subject matter is included in the parent specification but the claims are directed towards the provision, in a sewage settlement tank divided by one or more partitions 8, 9 into two or more superposed chambers 1-2-3, of a telescopic manhole access pipe 13a-13A which allows for settlement of the manhole fitting (e.g. cover 13d, frame 13c and vent 13e). In the tank the lowermost chamber 1 has a raw sewage inlet 4, the uppermost chamber 3 has a liquid outlet 7 and means, shown as small peripheral passages 15, allow for transfer of liquids but not solids between chambers. The conical partitions 8, 9 shown are joined at a central access aperture 10 closed by a bucket-shaped plug 11. Large partition apertures 60, closed by the plug, allow flushing of solids when required.
